An audit at Beaumont Hospital showed there were gaps in the IBD service which led to the creation of the IBD passport – a patient-held record designed to support disease monitoring and improve engagement with care.
The IBD passport was well received by patients, demonstrating strong patient engagement and perceived usefulness. Following its official launch, a formal audit will be conducted to assess its impact on adherence to monitoring and overall service utilisation. Notably, this is the first IBD passport initiative in Ireland.
